Being at the tail end of a rather long, damp winter we thought the prospect of a warm fireside supper at White House Farm might be cheering !

For the past 3 years we have promoted a mini Mutton Renaissance in February in the Alde Valley area of Suffolk – supplying traditional mutton from 4-5 year old ewes to local customers.

For this year’s Mutton Renaissance we are very excited to have teamed up with third generation butcher Gerard King from Salter & King in Aldeburgh, who is launching an Aldeburgh Mutton Week on Saturday 14th February from 2pm – 4pm. Our 2015 season Alde Valley Mutton will be available from the shop from the 7th February – Call early to book your supplies on Tel  01728 452 758.

As part of the celebrations, we are holding a Mutton Renaissance Supper here at the farm on Thursday 19th February. We will be serving a three course meal in the farm’s dining rooms prepared and cooked by Peter Harrison. We will be serving our own mutton, together with ingredients from the farm and other local suppliers. Gerard will give a short talk about mutton, his shop and his experiences as a third generation butcher between the courses.

Do come an join us if you can. I am sure the meal will be delicious and the conversations and company fascinating!

Please BYO beer and wine.

With best wishes,
Jason Gathorne-Hardy
