One week Chalet Cookery Course at Kenton Hall Estate

This week long Chalet Cookery Course (27 July–Friday 31) held at Kenton Hall Estate is designed for those wishing to spend a ski season in the snow.

The team including chef Peter Harrison will teach you the art of becoming the perfect chalet host. You will learn a range of cooking skills allowing you to create delicious dishes as well as covering all aspects of hosting, budgeting, shopping, menu planning and chalet cleaning.

Example daily itinerary
8.30am – Breakfast (residential students)
9.15am – Morning demonstration
10.30am – Tea/Coffee break
10.45am – Cookery session
1.30pm – Lunch
2.30pm – Cookery session
4pm – Daily talk/workshop
5pm – Finish
7pm – Supper (residential students)


Talks & workshops
As well as cookery tuition, students will have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops and talks in preparation for their season. The following topics will be covered:

~ A day in the life of a Chalet Host (a talk from a former chalet host about their ski season experience)
Menu planning workshop with Chef Peter Harrison
Wine tasting with Cellar27 (matching food with wine)
How to get your dream ski season job (a workshop to help and advise on CV writing, interview training and ski company presentations).

During the week each student will have the opportunity to practice cooking a full evening meal. For one evening each, the students (in pairs) will cook a three course supper with canapés for their fellow students and chef tutors. Students will be guided by the chef tutors to plan, cook and host the evening meal as if they were in a chalet.

Residential course option:

We are delighted to offer a residential option for the chalet cookery course. At Kenton Hall Estate we have a luxury glamping site; accommodation for the course will be provided in Bell tents (each sleep 2), all bedding and bed linen is provided, there are two shared luxury shower-rooms and WC facilities on site.

Residential students will be provided with accommodation for Sunday through to Friday, breakfast and supper at the cookery school will be included.
